A little further on, they saw a rooster crying.
"Rooster, what's wrong?" asked the donkey.
"Tomorrow my master will cook me for dinner, so I ran away," replied the rooster.
"Then come with us to Bremen! We will form a great band.”
“I can play the trumpet, the dog can play the drums, the cat can play the violin, and you can sing!" suggested the donkey.
The rooster agreed, and the four animals set off together towards Bremen.
The four animals walked happily, singing towards Bremen.
As night fell, they saw a cottage with lights shining in the forest.
They peeked inside and saw robbers eating a delicious meal.
"We want to rest in that cottage too. What should we do?" asked the donkey.
"I have a good idea! Let's all work together to scare the robbers away!" suggested the dog.
So the four animals gathered below the cottage window.
The donkey put his front hooves on the windowsill,
the dog climbed onto the donkey's back,
the cat climbed onto the dog's back,
and the rooster perched on the cat.
"One, two, three!" signaled the donkey.
"Neigh!" brayed the donkey.
"Woof!" barked the dog.
"Meow!" meowed the cat.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!" crowed the rooster.
The four animals made such a loud noise that the robbers were terrified and ran away.
The robbers left the cottage in fear, and the animals went inside, ate the delicious food, and comfortably rested.
The next morning, the animals cleaned and organized the cottage.
It became their new home.
They decided to stay there and live happily instead of going to Bremen.
Thanks to their friendship and cooperation, they found a new life together.
And so, the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster lived happily together.
